FULL-TIME RETAIL/DELIVERY DRIVER

O’Brien Hardwoods supplies local contractors, woodworkers, boatbuilders, and hobbyists with domestic and imported rough-sawn hardwood lumber and cabinet-grade and marine-grade plywood. Currently we offer delivery throughout the entire state of Maine and we are looking for a quality individual to step into a retail role as well as being our delivery driver when needed. This is a full-time position and will also consists of learning about the hardwood lumber industry as well as aiding with the day-to-day operations in the store and driving our flatbed delivery truck. No special license required. You will represent our company in a professional and cost-effective manner to increase our profitability and customer satisfaction..

Responsibilities:

  • Learning and coverage of retail sales at O’Brien Hardwoods

  • Help plan and execute delivery activities, including:

    • Helping to prepare delivery loads

    • Following planned delivery routes

    • Off-loading materials at designated delivery site

    • Complete logs and reports

    • Collect payments

    • Inform customers about new products and services

    • Maintaining cleanliness and standard maintenance of delivery vehicles

    • Observing company safety procedures and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations

 Requirements:

  • Schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:30 to 4:00

  • Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy items

  • Ability to operate basic computer functions

  • Ability to operate a forklift (or aptitude and willingness/ability to learn)

  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties

  • Valid State of Maine Driver’s License with a clean record

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction).

  • Minimum 21 year of age

  • Excellent communications and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • High school degree
